I shopped around and could not find a better price on name brand static line and accessory cord by the foot. Backcountry Gear's price is close, but their customer reviews are mixed and I hadn't heard of the brand.
Shipping was free and not noticeably slower than the big online retailers. The product was as advertised. I'm really impressed that a local retailer can run such a strong online store.
Rock and Snow will be my first stop for buying climbing gear online.
I had an excellent experience of this place! I’ve been here four times in the past eight months and each time, the staff has been friendly, knowledgeable and all around awesome! They assisted my friend with his jacket, and me with energy chews. Awesome place, will be back there again!
This place is an institution! Knowledgeable and friendly staff, with a great selection. Highly, highly recommend making Rock and Snow and Rock and Snow Annex a go-to. One of my favorite brick and mortars in the world.
Just what I needed when I forgot my spikes!
They are an outdoors-goods store focusing on climbing. This past weekend I went trail running around Mohonk and when pulling into the parking lot noticed I left my microspikes at home.
Thankfully Rock and Snow was about 10min away so I drove over and bought a pair of nanospikes, which I had been meaning to try. They worked perfectly for the trail which was completely iced over.
They have a cool rewards program too where you can opt out of their marketing emails if you’d prefer, so I figured to try it.
You gotta stop in! Rock and Snow is THE shop in upstate New York for all your gear needs. Not to mention their fantastic consignment shop a few doors down for unbeatable deals.
50 years climbing and never got to the 'Gunks'! Always knew of Rock and Snow. Friends traveling east, ads in magazines. Dropped in today, looked at the old gear, discussed history with Andrew and staff. They didn't know what 'RURP' stood for but hey they're young! Glad a shop of this caliber has stood firm against the tides of COVID and internet sales.
Support them and their ilk like Neptune Mountaineering in Boulder. We will miss them when their gone!
Since the people who work here are active in the activities they sell gear for they are knowledgeable about what they sell and what would be best for you. Especially boots and shoes. Worth the drive to New Paltz.
Of course this is the ultimate/epic climbing experience "Shop", in the area.
Staff is always helpful and knowledgeable, as of only the few times I visited.
And most importantly, the gear is tremendously exceptional.
